aka: my saga
Are not all backgrounds personal?
I was born in Bakersfield, California at the age of 16.
No, it didn't hurt. But I still have the scars.
I had a dog (or two).
She went to the moon.
Didn't even bring me back a souvenir.
Back to Bakersfield...
I met Michael Sanders there during the infamous IGHE.
IGHE = International Giraffe Herding Effort.
As the name implies, we were herding Giraffes.
Mickey Vendrasco knew about it, but was busy.
Damned paleo-something-or-anothers!
But don't mess around with Mick,
he's dangerous with a hockey stick.
Here is Charley Chiang.
He really is a professional hockey player.
All his teeth are fake, having been lost on the ice.
At least I can say that I knew him when...
After graduating West High School
(that's it - West...pretty damned ambiguous, huh?)
I went to College at NMIMT.
New
Mexico
Institute
of
Mining
and
Technology
** Remember, New Mexico has been a state since 1912. **
** You can drink the water there, too. **
It's a small pressure-cooker near the middle of the state.
Damned this page is long, eh!
Eric Wagoner was there.
Together, we screamed at the folks in the gym.
They noticed.
It did relieve some of the tension. (for us)
Sheila Hutcherson wasn't there to scream.
She was there to study psychology. Yuck.
She saw the light (or dirt, as the case may be)
(Actual Photo)
and obtained her BS degree in Geology at UNM.
and her MS degree in Geology at UNR.
and has gone on to be a leader in the field!
Jason Stiffler didn't yell with us.
For that, he will be damned to HELL.
Or California, whichever is worse (all votes are not in).
He is pictured above wearing his
"I'm a terrorist" hat.
He is good with explosives and small handheld rocket systems.
And the occasional beer.
Say hi to Bob Broilo.
He likes lizards a lot.
He likes children, too, but cannot eat a whole one.
This is Dave. He's a wanna-be earth-raper. Damned good try, Dave!
Oh yeah... my story.
I worked at Sandia National Labs, NM.
I was a research assistant.
Government is as government does.
...ugh...
I graduated NMT in 1997 with two BS degrees.
NOT two degrees in BS.
THEN?
Oh yeah, I worked for the
White Sands Missile Range
I liked it there, despite the radiation.
("A rad a day will keep the dark at bay" - Phil dE Cat)
I would talk about it, but then I'd have to kill you.
And I don't want to do that again...
In 1998 I became overemployed by:
EPOCH Well Logging, Inc.
I worked far too much - 12 hrs/day, 7 days/week
I could only stand that for a year or so.
Then I went on a nice, long vacation.
I am now, again, part of THE SYSTEM.
I work for the County of Kern as an Engineer.
