Korn Returns Home to Rock the Garden
by me!

Hometown heroes Korn returned to their old stomping grounds last night to a sold out crowd at Bakersfield’s Centennial Garden Arena.

Appearing with Korn were TRUST*company, an up-and-coming young band, and fellow rockers Disturbed.

TRUST*company opened the show with a 20-minute set that seemed to be repeating the same song over and over and over again. The only recognizable song was their current radio hit “Downfall”. Let’s put it this way; an unremarkable, unintelligible, un-inspiring and purely boring show.

Next up were front-man David Draimen and his band Disturbed bringing their own blend of new-metal rock to the stage. Draimen commanded the stage like a minister giving a homily to his followers, asking, “Do you want to live a lie? You go ahead and prescribe to all that candy-coated bullshit." in reference to the tour’s “Pop Sux” moniker. Demanding that fans pump their fists in the air to the music and telling them there was no reason they shouldn’t “get up on your fucking feet”.

Never before have I seen a performer with such stage presence and a command of the audience. Spinning a web through hits like “Down with the Sickness”, “Stupify”, and their current rock single “Prayer”, Draimen’s voice is sharp with “scalpel-like precision that razors through the great articulated noise his band mates generate”.

There’s just something about David Draimen in black leather pants, swiveling his hips, which made the show that much better.

Local new-metal rock heroes Korn exploded on the stage after a montage of children running from a hidden evil on a movie-screen sized television.

Their set opened with the fast-paced driving rhythms of “Here to Stay”, then moved back in time to such hits as “A.D.I.D.A.S.”, “Dead Bodies Everywhere”, “Freak on a Leash” and other favorites from their albums “Follow the Leader”, “Life is Peachy”, “Issues” and their self-titled debut, “Korn”. As an extra special bonus for hometown fans, the band launched into a coagulation of music from their first locally released demo disc.

Bypassing their typical music-only format, lead singer Jonathan Davis launched into a big thank you to his hometown; "It's great to be back in this wonderful fucking town," before launching into the song "Blind."

All in all, I would say this was an experience to remember, from leather hips to head banging screeches.

So what else is new...
From here, drug officials will photograph the load, take samples, and then bury it as compost.
That way it can grow back twice as strong and they can take more pictures and samples! Can you just imagine... "Toke of the Month Calendar". I bet all those guys who subsribe to High Times would buy it!

So how sick is it that the local news needs to show pictures like this on their websites when filing a story? It's been more graphic than this when the pieces are aired on live television. God forbid they try to conserve decency for the man and his family at this point in time.
It's called good taste, gentlemen, maybe you could use a little!
